Summer Leagues & Cups

24/7/2013

With the autumn leagues about to get underway its time for a quick review of the summer leagues and cup competitions.

There was no silverware this time round for any of the Leopards teams but it still was a good campaign overall.  The start of the season saw an influx of new players who all made a big contribution and some made a rapid rise to the top and played a staring role for the A's.

Highlights included, the A's beating eventual league winners, Firebirds, in the first week and the Mens team battling out a very creditable draw against the Firebirds men.  The performance of the season though goes to the Leopards Womens team who managed to finish joint second in their league.

The final placings for all Leopards teams can be found below, for the full list of results for the whole leagues then visit the Aberdeen Touch Website.

STS 2 - Aberdeen

11/7/2013

Round 2 of the cottish Touch Series took place in Aberdeen at the weekend and once again the Leopards were in action in the summer sun.

The draw so us in Group D with Wallace Monumentals (Sitrling), 6-Pack (Edinburgh) and Hoodlets.  A good 2-1 win over Wallace Monumentals got us off to the perfect start and despite losing to 6 Pack in the next game we managed 4 really good scores in a 7-4 loss.  A comfortable 6-1 win over Hoodlets saw us claim second place in the group.

Being in the top 8 of the KO stages meant a tough afternoon and although losing to both Meerkats and Superhands the team put in a hard shift and produced the score of the day in the 7-2 defeat by eventual winners Meerkats.

The final game of the day saw us taking on the Glasgow Lions and in a very close competitve game, in which we passed up several early chances to score, the match finished 2-2 and went to a drop off.  We just had enough left in the tank to get the all important winning score to finish the day in 7th place.

It was a fine display from the Leopards and finishing in the top 8 was a great achievement.  Well done to all that played.
